Sculpture Walk VI brings 10 new pieces of art to downtown Kingsport

Kingsport’s Sculpture Walk is back for its sixth year, with 10 new pieces on display along Broad and Main streets downtown. Curator Peggy Wood Townsend selected the sculptures out of 47 works submitted to Kingsport’s Cultural Arts Division by 28 artists from across the country. Townsend is interim director of Public Art Chattanooga and co-owner of Townsend Atelier, which makes and sells fine mold-making and casting materials, finishes and patinas to artists and craftspeople around the globe. Townsend will return to Kingsport on July 14 to lead a Sculpture Walk tour as part of Kingsport’s Fun Fest. The sculptures are: No. 1 — “Double Wedge”...

Keep Kingsport Beautiful will present “Saturday in the Gardens”, sponsored by Eastman Chemical Company, on Saturday, June 23 from 9 AM to 2 PM. Experience a day of garden tours showcasing six of Kingsport’s most beautiful private gardens. Proceeds from the event will benefit Keep Kingsport Beautiful's beautification and education programs. Featured gardens include that of Bernie and Darlene Mentro on Lochiel Court in Kingsport. This garden of nearly 100 different varieties of perennials and flowering shrubs evolved from a family passion for gardening.
